Director’s Statement

That Killer Feeling emerged from the quiet, ongoing violence of assimilation… Those moments when blending in means laughing along, hiding your true self, or pretending not to notice the harm. I wanted to explore what happens when repression finally shifts into clarity, and when reclaiming identity feels both terrifying and euphoric.

By framing cultural erasure as literal horror and self-acceptance as something feral and dangerous, this film uses dark comedy to expose how often we are taught to fear our own identity. The mysterious tavern exists as a liminal space where love and revenge coexist, and where choosing yourself is not gentle—it’s messy and unapologetic.

Ultimately, this story is about what we bury to assimilate and to survive, and the unsettling truth that choosing yourself can feel dangerous, excessive, and ultimately liberating.

That’s the killer feeling.
